mahAma innvoation hub, Ghana

The main focus of the proposed Mahama Innovation Centre development is the Innovation Hub housing The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the foremost national science and technology institution in Ghana. This development has been designed to attract young Ghanaian talent within an environment that inspires them to explore their creativity and innovative thinking.

The central building was designed to be an iconic, visually arresting building allowing the public to see the activity and energy happening within. Through the openness of the building, we’ve attempted to reverse the tendencies of technology or scientific institutions to close themselves off from the public.

We have maintained this openness throughout the development, ensuring that the entire space is a public space, with access to various amenities. Private areas like commercial offices and residential buildings are accessible via subtle entrance points and are elevated above the podium level (which house the retail units).

We have designed a car-free development to provide more fluid pedestrian movement across the site and the design of movement, circulation and access provides maximum security and freedom to residents.
